Follow Up

Jesus knew how to reach out and meet needs. Start to finish He was meeting our needs.

In ministry finding out people needs is just good business.

If someone hasn't ate in three days, feeding them first will probably go a lot longer than forcing a bunch of scripture their way.

I have met some Women's Ministry leaders that fuss more over who is not there than who is there. I believe if we met the needs of the women who do attend we would have more people than what we know what to do with. The feat here is what are those needs?

Follow up can really help you identify some unmet needs. Find out why they left and never came back.  Some instances are just unavoidable, however some are credible and worth our attention.

This video pick is an expert in the auto industry way back when, addressing not car salesmen but the owners of the dealerships. It's short but makes a very valid and powerful point.

Q4U:It takes courage to follow up and face critique.  What are some ways to make this simple and easy?

Video Pick: Nothing is Impossible

Those that go before us, pave the way.

Fall Breakaway 2011 is around the corner.
I know I talk about Fall Breakaway a lot.

Here is why.

When Nadia went to the Olympics and was the first gymnast to get a perfect 10 it was exciting, and particularly inspiring.  I wasn't a gymnast nor any aspirations to be one.  However I just couldn't shake what it must have felt like for her. I couldn't shake the image of a this girl doing something no one else had ever done before and I was apart of it.  I was watching when it happened.

Can you imagine what it was like to be there, to be in the audience when it happened?  I watched it in my living room with my family, the whole family on the edge of our seats, at one point all standing. It was exciting but what if we were in the actual room during that defining moment in Olympic history.

The atmosphere of expectancy breeds miracles.

Fall Breakaway is one of those ticking bombs for miracles. I have been to Fall Breakaway for the past 3 years and every year something monumental happens.  I have looked back and was glad I was apart of it.

Marsha Woolley (PenFlorida Women's Ministry Director) has brought in guest that are trail blazers for women and for Women's Ministries!  They are paving the way for you and me.  To be all that God has called us to be.  We can sit back and say "I'll read her books." or "I'll watch her on YouTube" even say "Our bible study will do one of her series."   But Fall Breakaway is being in the room when history, your history is being made.

You see now that I'm older I realized Nadia paved the way, for more perfect 10's.

I'm not saying only aspiring speakers, authors or ministers come to Fall Breakaway.  I didn't want to be a gymnast when I grew up, but I was still inspired when I watched her. Fall Breakaway is about becoming a woman of faith, influence, full of love and compassion, that will face the injustices of this world like a superhero.

Fall Breakaway 2011 is approaching.  It's not too late to for you to come.

Video Pick: Now you Know

Here's a very short PSA for leaders.

Need volunteers?

This weeks video will help.

So how do you recruit help?

Video Pic: I want it all

How do we juggle it all?

We have family, work, church, ministry, friends, holidays, presents to buy, parties to attend, science fair projects x3, mission trip, mentoring, message preparation, girls night out, date night, and let's not forget your daughter's cheerleading squad coming over for a slumber party, or your son's buddies coming over for marathon game of Red vs Blue whatever that is.

Christine Cain says it all about having it all.  It's a short video, and she doesn't elaborate too much but it's powerful and it's key. It's enough to chew on for a couple of days.

Christine Cain is coming our way!!!

She will be at Save the Hero (Fall Breakaway 2011) at the Rosen Shingle Creek Orlando, Fl  - October 20-22.  Reservations include registration and room! 4 to a room only $100, you can't beat that!  3 days/2 nights in 5 star hotel, with your girlfriends and Christine Caine.  This isn't about the workshops either there is plenty of downtime to enjoy the area! You gotta love that, a conference that you can relax at!

Mentoring for the Future

We have in Women's Ministry a "must" mandate, it is mentoring.

I would call it mothering, and we are to do that, however nothing can replace your own mother, and we need to always teach the younger women to respect and honor the mothers, not replace them.  Mentoring by mothering not smothering is the idea.

We need to get the next generation to dream big about God's glory!

Let's take a look at where they are. Let's get in their shoes and take a look at what their future may hold for them. Not how bad things are, that doesn't require any faith at all.  But a look at what sort of possibilities are going to be available for them. Then get them to dream big about taking those possibilities and bringing God a ton of glory out of it.  Let's get them to perceive problems as opportunities. Let's get them to embrace new inventions as resources and not something to be scared of.  Let's train them to use the resources they have to bring honor to God's name. In order to do that WE NEED TO DO THE SAME!

Let's not write off Facebook, Twitter and YouTube simply because Lady Gaga uses it.
We must train them to be the top innovators in their field. How do we do that? Explore possibilities with them, not close a blind eye.  Dialogue about core values in the midst of them.  Walk with them and help identify potholes and shallow thinking.

In order to pack if we need to know where we are going.  When we mentor the next generation we must train them for where they are going.  We can't do that if we don't accept it ourselves.

Here's a video to give us a gentle nudge into forward thinking.  To get a glimpse at what life for the next generation might look like.

What sort of mentoring are you doing? What sort of mentoring will the next generation do in the future?

Connecting the Ministry

There has been a shift in the way society connects
to family,
to friends,
 to businesses
 even to church and ministries.

It's Social Networking

It's not going to go away. In fact, I believe Jesus used this very thing in His days.  He was connecting to people. It didn't matter if it meant he had dinner with them, or even casual conversations on the side of the road. Those simple connections seemed to  explode into blind eyes healed and the lame walking again.  He could have camped out in Jerusalem and let the word of all the healings spread, to the point everyone was coming to Him. We call that in the business world the "attraction model." Yet He didn't He went out and commanded us to do the same.

Here is a video that hopefully puts a perspective on this Social Revolution we are experiencing.

Q4U:  What are some of the ways your ministry is using Social Networking to connect?
